Bolden still solid with USC

USC commit Damuzhea Bolden was among a talented group of football players from Bishop Gorman HS in Las Vegas that visited USC’s campus this weekend.

Bolden hopes the trip impressed his friends. He’s hoping to make Bishop Gorman a cardinal and gold colored pipeline.

“I’m trying to get (Tate Martell) out there and I’m trying to get Biaggio (Ali-Walsh) and Alex Perry, Austin (Arnold), Malik (Hausman) and Haskall (Garret),” Bolden told TrojanSports.com. “I’m trying to get us all to go out there.”

The 6-foot-3, 183 pound safety says he was the one who pitched the idea of a USC trip to his teammates.

“We were coming down here for the Nike opening, so I just told everyone to come down and check out USC for the junior day and talk to the coaches about it,” Bolden said. “And they were all cool with it and everyone liked it from Gorman and I’m trying to get everyone to come out there and just all go.”

Bolden wasn’t just there to recruit Bishop Gorman’s stars to USC. He was doing his own research on the school he’s currently committed to.

“I met with the coaches, I met with the DB coach, I started to make a relationship with them, the defensive coordinator, the head coach,” Bolden said. “We walked around and saw the academics and saw were we would be training at, in the training room. So it was a good day.”

Bolden actually committed to USC back in December, well before the Trojans finished putting together its defensive staff. He says he’s feeling good about the new coaches and his school.

“I’m very comfortable with it,” Bolden said. “I like the DB coach, I like the defensive coordinators, so those are big keys and stuff like that and the head coach, he’s really cool, so I’m liking all of it.”

That hasn’t stopped other programs from approaching him. Bolden says he mostly hears from “Michigan, Notre Dame and Alabama.”

“Other schools are hitting me up and stuff like that, talking to me,” Bolden said. “I’m not really reaching out to other schools and trying to talk to them but I’m just enjoying everything and stuff like that.”

He says he’s committed but still weighing his options.

“I’m still open to other schools and other offers but I’m pretty solid in my commitment to USC.”
